Day 6 - Media
Planning - Now that you've had time to learn more about the habitat you chose, it's time to start designing your bird. <planning sheet>
When you have finished your planning you can begin practicing drawing your new bird.
When you have finished your planning you can begin practicing drawing your new bird.
Drawing your own bird - When you get ready to draw your own bird you can follow the steps in the pictures below. Be sure to think about your bird's characteristics and use them in your drawings. How will your bird's beak look? Will your bird have a long neck or a short neck? Will your bird be big or small? Will your bird have short legs or long legs? How many toes will your bird have? Have fun with your creations. You'll be practicing on paper and later you'll do your drawing using KidPix.
Last time you visited the Media Center we looked at shapes and lines that are used for drawing and we practiced drawing a bird on the whiteboard and you used KidPix to draw your first bird. Now we're ready to have you move on and use what you are learning about birds to create your own bird.
Structure of Bird Beaks - sample movie from Discovery Education
Log into Discovery Education and take a look at the Create a Bird board.
Use the images below to help you as you design your bird's beak, feet, and wings. What else will you need to know to design your bird? Where might you find that information?
For example: You might want to create a bird that will be able to live in the rainforest. What do you know about the rainforest? What tool could you use to find out more about rainforests?

BrainPop - You also went to BrainPop and watched the movie and took the quiz about Birds: https://www.brainpop.com/science/diversityoflife/birds/
Discovery Education - You have learned how to log into Discovery Education and you have watched the following movies:
Log into Google Classrooom and work on your assignment from Mrs. Chang.
Log into Ultimate Typing and complete one lesson. Remember that we are working on practicing HomeRow fingering - NOT two finger typing. This is hard, and it will be worth all the time and effort once you train your fingers.
If you finish any of the items above before we are ready to switch, you can log into your Dreambox account and continue with one lesson. Please do not go to the My Stuff area. Stay on the lessons.
