After practicing using play-doh and iStop Motion to learn animation skills, our students created a short animation showing how energy transfers. Then students wrote a brief summary explaining their animation. Summaries needed to include:
- an explanation of what is happening in the animation
- an explanation of where the animation shows potential energy
- an explanation of where the animation shows kinetic energy
Stop Motion Animation - H201
Science Comes to the Park!
Our animation uses a dog's trip to the park to explain kinetic energy and potential energy. Energy at the Beach
Our animation is about potential and kinetic energy at the beach. A lego girl kicks the ball and hits a girl in the face. The potential energy is when she swings her leg to kick the ball because it builds up energy. The kinetic energy is when the ball hits the girl and pushes her into the other girl next to her because the ball transfers the energy to the girls by them being pushed. Killer Batman
Killer batman he hurt people. Then a girls stopped the motorcycle and stopped him from hurting more people that girl is really strong. The girl saves the day. The potential energy is when she takes a second to bend and lift it. The kinetic energy is when she pushes up which that save the day. The Big Purple Fish
What's happening in the story is a guy goes on a fishing trip and hopes to catch a big fish but he catches a giant purple fish. It shows potential energy when he winds the fishing pole back because he is storing power in this arm muscles. It also shows kinetic energy when he throws the fishing line because when you release kinetic energy it is kinetic energy. Fetch
Bob throws a ball for a dog named Tom. Then the dog goes running for the ball. Potential energy is shown when Bob pulls his arm back. Kinetic energy is shown when Bob throws the ball and Tom goes running for the ball. Getting Hurt Playing Catch
Our animation is about two friends playing catch. They played with a red bouncy ball. TJ tried to throw the ball to CJ but threw it too high - which made potential energy, and pushed off and hit TJ's head. |
Car Chase
The summary of the story is 2 cars going for a cruise. Then 3 other cars come in and try to make trouble to the 2 cars. The two good cars juke out the bad cars and then they hang off the cliff. The potential energy is when the cars drive fast and the energy builds up. Bouncing Ball
Our animation is about a play-doh man kicking a ball. It shows potential energy when the play-doh man is about to kick the ball. It shows kinetic energy when the play-doh man kicks the ball. Once the play-doh man kicks the ball the energy from the kick transfers into the ball which sends it flying in the air. World Series Homerun
In the animation the Astros pitcher pitches the ball. Next, the batter hits a walk off homer. The Dodgers win. The potential energy is when the pitcher winds up to pitch because he stores his energy in his arm and when he throws he releases it in motion. Kinetic energy was when the batter hit the ball because he puts the ball in motion. Shark's Beach
One day at the beach in this tiny little car... A man went to the beach in his nice pink car. He got out of his car and saw the "BEWARE OF SHARKS!" sign. He didn't care so he moved along. All his stuff were getting set up on the hot sand like his Doritos and Mountain Dew. He threw back his fishing pole and used potential energy as he got ready to throw it into the water and catch a fish. As he used more kinetic energy, he caught a big fish. Jurassic Shooting
In our animation we showed potential and kinetic energy. When our guy pulls back the bow that shows potential energy and when he releases the bow it shows kinetic energy. A dinosaur came out of a bush and one of the guys run and the other shoots. it. |
