Stop Motion Animations H-204
After practicing using play-doh and iStop Motion to learn animation skills, our students created a short animation showing how energy transfers. Then students wrote a brief summary explaining their animation. Summaries needed to include:
- an explanation of what is happening in the animation
- an explanation of the type of energy that is being shown
- an explanation of how energy is transferred
Light Energy
Our animation is about light energy. There is a man in a house and he says it's so dark in here. Then he gets a lighter and that creates fire using the lighter. He lights the candle's wick and the energy transfers to the candle. Last he turns on a light switch which controls the light bulb and then that's how we know how light energy transfers. Light Energy
Our light stop motion video is about the primary sun's light hitting the water and bounces off the water in effect hitting Bob's eyes causing Bob to go get his sunglasses. Next, he went to the shade because the light burned Bob's eyes. Last, he went to go to sleep on the porch with his glasses and under the palm tree with coconuts. Chemicals
This video shows how potential energy can turn into chemical energy. For example, in our video these two boys went camping in the woods and it was dark. So one boy grabbed a lighter and lit a fire in their campfire. When the fire came on the potential energy turned into chemical energy and then the chemical energy turned into heat energy and turned into a fire. Therefor, because the fire went off both these boys got to see a beautiful flower. Chemical Energy
Our animation is about chemical energy. First, there is a firework, which has chemical energy stored in it when it is not used. Then, a dragon appears and lights the firework on fire and the chemical energy is turned into heat and light energy. After, the tree lights on fire because the wind blows the sparks into it. That is how we showed chemical energy being transferred into other energies. Ani and Mariah - Lightning Man
Our animation is about how electrical energy passes through solids. First, this man's name is Jeff, he paints signs for a living. So the man was painting a sign. Then it became dark and cloudy. "Oh NO" he said. Then lightning hit his ladder and transferred electrical energy to his body. He got struck and he died. |
Sound Energy
Our animation is about sound energy. The dog is home alone and a robber is trying to get in the house. The dog barks that's the sound energy and sound waves travel through the air to the man's ears and hurts the robber's ears. So the dog runs after the robber and bites him. Finally, the robber runs away and the owner comes home. Emoji tv/chemical Energy
Our energy is chemical energy. At the beginning the emoji find the remote to the rv. The remote does not work. Then James the emoji found the batteries. The potential part is that the battery did not turn on the tv until the button was hit. The chemical part is when James puts the batteries in and turns on the tv. So he watches the emoji news and The End. Live Wire
Our animation is about electric energy in a wire. But a man plugging in a wire. This makes sense for our group for electricity because as he plugs in the wire his hand is on the metal part. Metal releases electricity. Kid in a Cave
Our video is based on sound energy and echo location. Our video starts with a kid walking in a cave. The kid grabs a pebble and drops it in the water. Those rings in the water represent the sounds under water. The light blue drop is a splash of water. That puddle is from the drops of water. Abbie and Zoe - Dog Whistle
In our story, there are three characters, Bob, Joe and the dog. One day Bob bought a whistle and tried it at the dog park. Then Joe and the dog go for a walk at the park. |
